Eyeball QSO With 9M2FB
Last week marked my final eyeball QSO with my dear friend, OM Ian Buffham, before he migrates to Thailand. Ian has spent many years here in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, living alone while his wife manages a Thai restaurant back in Thailand.
To make the occasion special, I invited a fellow ham, Mutalib 9M2SQL, to join me in meeting Ian in TTDI.
Ian is one of my CW companions, and our friendship blossomed over numerous Morse code exchanges on 20 meters. We had our first eyeball QSO in Sungai Buloh, a memorable moment for both of us.
June 2014 marks Ian’s last month in Malaysia before he relocates permanently to Thailand to be with his family. During his time in TTDI, Ian faced challenges with setting up his antenna. Despite his efforts, he could only manage a wire dipole on his apartment balcony, which offered a view overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
I sincerely hope Ian will have the opportunity to establish an excellent radio station in his new home. I look forward to working with him on the airwaves again soon, and I’m excited to hear him using his new callsign from Thailand.
