The simplehrr website is an anonymous Squarespace page, I can’t find any information about the developer, and there’s no hint whether this is Open Source or just “free to use for now but maybe they’ll start charging later.” It looks like a great setup if it works, but I’m not going to connect some rando’s RPi image to my local network without a little more transparency.

The answer is NO. Once installed, the software checks the entered callsign against the QRZ.COM database, as clearly stated in the install guide. I am on QRZ but because the check to QRZ.COM seems to also check the country, you can’t move past this point. Why??? Either the developer needs to update their website, OR change the code. The website itself has no contact details, so if the dev is reading this, it’s a shame they didn’t choose to remove that check entirely, open source the software so that it could be ported to other platforms, and try and make some money off his work by accepting donations.
