Setting Up Your VGC N Series Products as an APRS Digipeater

Great news for VGC VR-N76 and VR-N7500 series users! You can now configure your devices to function as an APRS/BSS digipeater, enhancing your communication capabilities. Follow these straightforward steps to get started:

Step-by-Step Guide

Connect Your Device

    • Begin by connecting your N series device to the mobile app, HT.

    Access Device Settings

      • Open the device settings and navigate to the Signaling Settings.

      Fill in APRS Information

        • In the APRS column, enter the necessary information. It’s crucial to ensure that the APRS path is not left empty; otherwise, forwarding will not occur.

        Configure BSS/APRS Digipeater Settings

          • Select the time to live and maximum forwarding times. Remember, both parameters must be greater than 0. If they are set to 0, the forwarding will be disabled.

          Set the Transmitter Channel

            • Ensure that the APRS channel of your transmitter matches that of the VGC device. Once set, you’re ready to start operating!

            Important Notes

            • This function requires the mobile phone and the two-way radio to be connected for it to work. If the mobile phone disconnects, the forwarding will stop. (Good news: the mobile phone does not require network support!)
            • If you have the VR-N7500 connected, you’ll enjoy a powerful 50W APRS digital repeater.

            Final Check

Before diving in, ensure that your app is updated to the latest version (2.7.4.3) to take full advantage of these features.

Happy communicating, and enjoy your enhanced APRS capabilities with the VGC N series products!
