1. Social and roundtable nets

3. Traffic and message-handling nets

A traffic net moves messages from one station or area to another. The word traffic means formal radio messages, not ordinary conversation or a busy frequency. The messages may concern a public-service activity, a welfare check, club business, or a greeting. Operators pass the text accurately, often using a standard message form.

Rules about selling equipment and commercial communication differ by country. Amateur radio is not a general advertising service. Follow your local regulations and the net organiser’s policy. 11. DX and contest-support nets

A DX net helps stations make long-distance contacts. The NCS may maintain a list of operators who want to contact a particular country, island, mobile station, or special-event station. The NCS calls stations in turn and controls the exchange so that several signals do not transmit at once.
